If there were a job listing that required the ability to projectile snot, I’d be a finalist for sure. In other words, I have a nasty cold that is really harshing my mellow. At first, I thought it was a reaction to an allergy shot, but as the week wore on, I began to see that this was no allergic reaction, but a pox upon my sinuses. Luckily, I don’t seem to have a bacterial infection (besides, I’m on a low dose of antibiotics for my acne), but the symptoms have thus far resisted chemical intervention. I’ve now taken three different types of Mucinex (regular, DM, and now D), and the third iteration seems to be having an effect. I’ve been coughing like the dickens, but as an asthmatic, that’s old news. I have cough pills to take at bedtime (or whenever I don’t care to be useful).
As an aside, I really resented the ordeal of buying a decongestant that contains one critical ingredient of meth. I had to hand over my license to the pharmacist (to be recorded and matched in some database) and sign a statement saying I wasn’t going to be cooking meth in my apartment after buying an 18-pack of decongestants. It took about 10 minutes, in which time I likely could have scored some meth (especially around here). I know it’s a problem, but all of this kerfluffle hasn’t prevented a whole hell of a lot of people from blowing up their trailers from a batch gone bad. There has to be a better way…
