Woah definitely pivotal decisions for you!
I think the fear of becoming a career academic is a realistic one, of course some people want that. But falling into it and it becoming a rut I’d imagine might make one feel wretched.
If I understand correctly you’re planning to go with the straight musicology MA rather than a double master’s in musicology and French/Applied Linguistics. Then, look to the internship. If that’s what’s needed to act as a stepping stone to the next point ending onto the Ph.D. & beyond then I think that seems logical, as long as it fits into what’s beyond the Ph.D. too – as I’m sure you’ve taken into account already. :o)
Yeah you understand correctly. Now if I don’t get an assistantship in my current program, I’ll drop out, work for a spell, then go back to school in the French/Applied Linguistics program. But either way, yes, a lot of pivotal decisions. But isn’t that what your twenties are all about? 🙂
