As soon as I rail against all the injustices of the Universe, of course I find out that I passed the Foreign Service exam. Not only that, I aced the hell out of it! A passing score was 154, and I exceeded that by 16 points, putting me in the 97th percentile of all test takers!
Now on to writing my personal narratives and making something good happen in my life. After so much heartache, it is nice to have good news.
For posterity’s sake, or for the sake of other Foreign Service-wannabe types like me, here’s the breakdown:
- Job Knowledge: 58.47
- Biographic Information: 50.61
- English Expression: 61.46
Total: 170.54
Essay score: 10
Cheers!! Good news! Well done!
Merci.
Congrats! I don’t know nothin’ about none of these fancy numbers, but 97th percentile sounds good!
I daresay you could do the personal narratives in your sleep at this point.
Silly pseudologists…Why you always gotta be hatin’ on the numbers?
I hope you are right. Spouse, whose entire livelihood has consisted of writing persuasively, is going to help me write and edit those bad boys. It’s actually somewhat intimidating to think about writing about myself in this way (and with such limited space)!
Mabrouk!
Alf shukran!
WONDERFUL news! Oddly enough, I follow a couple of FS bloggers… I think you might have found a match for your qualities and skills! Yay!
What blogs do you recommend?
BTW, I am in awe of your quilting prowess. Beautiful!!
I follow ‘Email from the Embassy’ and ‘The Perlman Update’ (but both have links to MANY more. It is a Different Way of Life.
P.S. I am sorry to know your medical situation is so fraught. Our daughter is on ?Activela? which basically replaces the hormones her (absent) ovaries cannot provide. Every person is different, but they make doses in only certain increments….so crazy! Somehow we all seem to find the seams and crevices where the drugs fail us………
Thanks! I will add to my feed.
We all have our challenges in life. I feel lucky to have access to good treatment that keeps me more or less functional. As perilous as modern medicine can be, I am glad it is there!
That’s very impressive! Best of luck on the rest of the FS selection process. My husband and I have friends who are FAOs (the military equivalent of FSO) and it’s definitely a different but gratifying experience
