Haphazard Musings of a Budding Academic

Yay! November 6, 2006

I’m back from Spokane! My trip was awesome and my presentation went over really, really well. I had a few people ask for copies of the paper and one of them is using it in one of his classes. The rest of the day people came up to me and said a lot of really positive things. Lots of good conversation, too. Hooray for a good first conference presentation. I’ll post some pics later on when I get home.

These idiots outside my window (maintenance guys) sound like they’ve been fed an unhealthy dose of Fox News and bigotry their entire lives. That and their cigarette smoke is wafting into my office and making me ornery. I’ve never heard such open ignorance in my entire life. I hope their fucking crane collapses and breaks their stupid necks. It couldn’t happen to better people.

Glassmasters! You know, the one with the redneck & the grandma in the commercial!

    • LOL!!! Grandma says…

I called the Glassmasters here in Tuscaloosa, but they apparently don’t do the thing where they pay ur deductible. Weird. I may try the on in Bham. I know the one in Huntsville does it but I really really don’t want to drive 2 1/2 hours just to have my windshield replaced.

        Huntsville?

But if you drive to Huntsville, you’ll get to see ME and play SkipBo until we’re late for everything. :) And I think you really need a good game of SkipBo. ;)

“If guns are meant to keep people safe, then why aren’t we the safest country in the world?”

    Exactly.

    Yay!!! :)

  6. Also pooey on them for having the skankiest and unwelcoming repair shop I’ve ever seen! It was grotty! Saving $70 aside, I’d say it wasn’t worth the drive.

Gross! Now I know not to go there if I ever have windshield trouble.
