My trip to Chicago was very, very fun. Exhausting, but I had a great time. I met so many new people that I’m really hoping I stay in touch with. I had a bit much of the nightlife, if you know what I mean (there were parties/dinners every night I was there) but what else was I going to do? The wedding itself was really nice and very classy. It was at some estate on a forest preserve right outside of the city. All the guests that were staying at the Marriott got to ride a charter bus out there. It was a flashback to my high school marching band days, but there were lots of good conversations on the bus. One of the bride’s sisters (I think she had 3) was a heinous bitch and caused a whole lot of drama which nearly ruined the wedding, but luckily no one paid her any mind and the wedding went smoothly.
Other than that I did a little shopping at H&M and walked around Wicker Park on Saturday afternoon. There wasn’t time for much else.
Wedding planning will commence soon. It should be absolutely nuts. Our goal is $10,000 or less. We’ll see if it indeed can be done…

Sounds to me like…
… maybe you should kick this guy to the curb? If he’s such a pain and has horrible friends with bad habits like you say he does, why not cut your losses? You seem like a particularly pleasant person and probably are “out of place” with all of this unthoughtful schmoes’ ways. Find something else worthy of your charms, rather than watch as this jerk wavers to and fro in a quavering waltz of “how he was” and “how he should be”.
All in all, though, it’ll work out fine.
Oh, and I love your taste.

Re: Sounds to me like…
Why thank you. And I love your way with words. Care to reveal who you are?
Re: Sounds to me like…
Perhaps soon. For now I’m content to lurk in the shadows and smile in a bemused manner when I read something on your site that particularly pleases me. You’re quite interesting and have a splendid way with words yourself.
For now, alas, I must remain…

I believe there is a blog somewhere on al.com about planning a wedding under 10K. I’ll have to search around and get the link for you.
You would be my she-ro if you found that.
Ugh! I cann’t find it, but the B-Ham News weddingguide is here, plus some other cool stuff:

tch… I thought you were coming to Chicago for ISNA
My friends did thier wedding for less than $5K
They hired a friend as a photographer (cheap) used the groom’s family’s backyard (super cheap) and did all the decorations themselves (ultra cheap).
One thing they did was to get white Christmas lights from Wal-Mart a few days after Christmas when they were dirt cheap and wrap them around over and through everything to make it all prettified.
Best of luck!
“prettified” is a word I haven’t used in a while. I may change that.
Re: Sounds to me like…
Yay for secret “admirers” as it were! You are welcome to be anonymous, just don’t be creepy.
